"Million Dollar Penny"

"Hey buddy can you spare a dime? Rare change is drawing big bucks. Coins and other high-end collectables are soaring in value. Is it the latest bubble?"

Imagine what a BUBBLE it would be if just 10% of the 20 trillion in currnet Obama M3 (read 2,000,000,000,000.00 2 trillion) were put into gold and silver?

Gold would $100,000.00 an ounce and silver would hit $6250.00 an ounce...

It could happen, it could happen...

I'm not scared and I imagine your sleeping fine HS.

In that article there is a 1795 reeded-edge 1.3 million dollar penny! I don't think I would sleep well holding that.

If they're going to do an article like that, at least they should get their nomenclature correct. The US does not mint "pennies", we mint "cents". The coin of reference is not a penny. I understand that the colloquial terminology of penny and cent are used interchangeably and I have no problem with that, but when you're showcasing one of the rarest, most valuable and treasured coins from the early history of America... well, it's like putting a van Gogh painting up for sale and calling it a Czanne.

I would NOT sleep well knowing the UNIQUE SAINT 1933 That I paid 7.65 MILLION more NOW has two :504:MORE tied with it; and ONE  better at MS66; and 6 more at MS64 that could be resent into PCGS and they'd up the grade if the owner had title - COME to the marketplace with a GIVERMINT settlement! :111::111::111:

What's a 5 million dollar loss playing with the big BOYZ as a non-collector - Hardball HURTS when you play with the really rare ones.

:fan:

Just HIT his fan it did! :111:

I'd pay 5K to 10K for the CLEANED one AU details - however... they'd never take it though....

LOL yes, that story played out like a collectors worst nightmare. If you have 7-8 million to blow on a Saint though, besides the beating your pride would take, it probably wouldn't ruin you financially.

It's been said for a while now that really high end stuff is selling well, and lower end stuff is dropping. I'd tend to agree, though the scarce coins that are also sub-$2000 that are rarely seen for sale are still doing quite well.
